Betty finds that everything is changing as she begins her new job as associate features editor, especially since her boss is her ex-boyfriend, Matt Hartley, who is still unhappy about their breakup. In addition, Betty's new officemate, Megan, openly resents her, while Marc is constantly undermining her because he felt he was more deserving of the promotion. Meanwhile, without Betty as his assistant, Daniel is adrift, still mourning the loss of his wife, Molly. Betty tries to help Megan out on an assignment and connects with a thoughtful insect jewelry designer, Olivia, while Justin starts high school and is victimized by bullies-but won't tell his mom, Hilda. Claire Meade is finding that her power struggle at the company has her sitting pretty - for the moment -- opposite Wilhemina, who lost her claim to the Meade throne last season. At Wilhemina’s fund-raiser for Tibetan orphans Matt asks someone to be his partner. Daniel hires Natalie as his assistant, making Betty feel unneeded. Daniel finds out that Claire has a secret.

Betty, Matt and Amanda’s love triangle in the Bahamas reaches boiling point. Betty has trouble with a photo shoot when Penelope Graybridge steals the shoot from her enemy Wilhemina. Marc falls for super sexy Troy.

Ignacio prepares a romantic dinner for his Jean. Betty and Hilda take the Be-Shure instant pregnancy tests. Meanwhile, Hartley gets Denise Ludwig to fill in for Wilhemina. However Marc plans to bring Willie back. Claire with Amanda track down Tyler, the son she gave up for adoption.

However, when Wilhemina starts putting Betty to work on all kinds of experiments, Betty's job nearly kills her. Meanwhile, Daniel uncovers the fact that Marc is sabotaging him, while Bobby attempts to treat Hilda during "Hilda Week", but it goes awry. Also, Wilhemina makes a long-term commitment to the incarcerated Connor.

Wilhemina marginalizes Betty at Fashion Week, but Daniel has her reassigned to cover a low-priority show. There, Betty meets Marisa, one of the "10 Designers to Watch." Meanwhile, Amanda teams up with Helen to start a new line, but both Marc and Betty refuse to show their work to Wilhelmina.

To speed along the investigation into her house fire, Betty is pressured to date an annoying fireman, Jimmy. And Wilhemina is hospitalized with a perforated ulcer, and can't help her type-A personality even when bedridden, but then her roommate, Roberta, prompts an epiphany.

After being knocked unconscious at a photo shoot, Betty has a dream in which her orthodontist shows her how her life would have been had she never worn braces.

Amanda and Hilda join Betty on a trip to Fashion Week in London, where Betty reconnects with Christina (Ashley Jensen) and has a chance encounter with Gio (Freddy Rodriguez). Meanwhile, Wilhelmina goes to extremes to undermine Claire and Daniel by getting close to Tyler, and Bobby wonders why Justin and a classmate have become inseparable.

Betty asks Daniel to go to Hilda's wedding with her; Amanda wants to fix Marc up with her new client; Betty considers unexpected offers; Wilhemina uses Tyler as a pawn to fight the Meade empire.

Betty's relunctance to tell Daniel about her future is holding her back, Justin and Bobby go in search of a new place - although Hilda doesn't seem too keen. Amanda struggles to deal with the death of her dog, Halston, and Marc thinks he is destined to be alone.
